The Australian Institute of Criminology and the Victorian Department of Justice and Community Safety (formerly the Department of Justice and Regulation) co-host the Crime Prevention and Communities Conference every four years (alternate biennials). This is the biggest crime prevention conference in Australia targeted at practitioners.

2018 Crime Prevention and Communities conference: Translating evidence into practice

The Australian Institute of Criminology and the Department of Justice and Regulation hosted this conference at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on 7-8 June 2018.

The conference was attended by almost 300 delegates with keynote speakers including Professor Rachel Armitage from the University of Huddersfield (UK), Professor Lorraine Mazerolle from the University of Queensland, Associate Professor Rebecca Wickes from Monash University and Mr Steve Trigg, the National Police Chiefs’ Council’s lead for Crime Prevention in the UK.

2016 Crime Prevention and Communities conference: Innovative responses to traditional challenges

The Australian Institute of Criminology and the Queensland Police Service hosted Australia’s third major Crime Prevention and Communities conference at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on 3-4 November 2016.

Key note speakers included Chief Rob Davis, Lethbridge Regional Police Service, Canada and Professor Anna Stewart, Head of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Griffith University.

The Australian Institute of Criminology and the Department of Justice and Regulation hosted this conference in partnership with Victoria Police, LGPro and the Municipal Association of Victoria in Melbourne on 10-11 June 2014.
