The Victorian Government is providing $232,000 in crime prevention funding to the City of Casey. This is so community designed and delivered projects improve safety and address crime in the area.

Local grant winners announced

Three Empowering Community grants have been awarded to local organisations. The funding will be used to develop initiatives to empower and support people to prevent crime in their communities.

The recipients include:

The Pat Cronin Foundation who is receiving $80,000 for their Be Wise Preventing Social Violence project. The project will provide education and skills to 6,700 students across 25 school sporting clubs. They will learn strategies to diffuse conflict and avoid violence.

Wellsprings for Women will receive more than $72,000 for their Safety and Equality Matter Project 2.0. The funding will help to continue their work in empowering culturally and linguistically diverse residents to prevent violence against women.

IndianCare Safe and Supported is receiving $80,000. They will use the funding to:

  • build on their work to address the underlying causes of family violence, and
  • build stronger South Asian communities across the City of Casey.
